My library. “The Steward” by Christopher Shields is the first book in the “Weald Fae Journals”, a series aimed at young adults. Sadly, I find many of today’s fantasy writers sloppy and lazy in constructing their ‘worlds’, but Shields has clearly put a lot of thought and time into /5(93).
The book is structured so that at the end of each chapter there is a commentary, and the commentary is very technical and is where he goes back to the original sources and says things like, ‘I made this point in the chapter because it’s relevant to these other thinkers, these other quotations’.
